The Jacobean Singers are a choir in the Anglican tradition which developed from the choir of St James Church, King St, Sydney. They perform at church services (not all Anglican) and give a number of concerts each year. Although their repertoire concentrates on church music, including masses by Haydn and Mozart, it is not exclusively so and their concerts do include secular items.

The choir rehearses on Sunday afternoons in Sydney’s eastern suburbs (currently at the Catholic church of Mary Immaculate, Waverley, just off Bronte Rd at Charing Cross). The choir does occasionally perform at weddings, funerals and other appropriate events.

Membership is open to interested would-be choristers. There is an informal audition process. Although most of our members read music well, we accept that music-reading is an on-going process and that singers who merely “follow” music can be mentored and encouraged to be good readers.

The Jacobean Singers are an Incorporated Association in New South Wales.
